[ The anxiety is killing him. Aomine doesn't say anything - is that a bad sign??? Why did Aomine call him here?

He's not even sure if he has the right to start the conversation. He sure as hell doesn't know how to apologize in the best way possible. ]

Aominecchi-

[ He swallows that nervousness, leans against the fence for strength. ]

I'm-

[ He clenches the chain links, and before he knows it, his head is bowed and the words are spilling from his mouth, stained with months of emotion and regret and desperation. ]

I'm sorry, Aominecchi- I really am. I was stupid- I'm still stupid, that hasn't changed since middle school. But that doesn't make it okay, what I did. I realize that now- I should have trusted you more. After all, isn't it me who says we're old teammates?

[If Aomine doesn't stop him, he's gonna babble on forever.]

[aomeanie]

Yeah, you should have. [oops, that came out a little too harsh. he huffs and crosses his arms.] It's not like we-- It's not like I didn't know what I was talking about Kise. I know how important basketball is, so the fact that you decided to brush me and the advice I gave you off? Like I didn't matter? It hurt, and no amount of saying that you're my old teammate is going to save you.

[he shakes his head.] However it didn't hurt as much as how you brushed Satsuki off, as if she didn't matter. Kise you remember she was your manager for two years, she knows what's good for us more than we do.

[reproducer]

I know. [It means nothing to acknowledge it now, to admit his wrongdoings after the fact. He's still hurt his friends, the friends who've meant so much to him, and no amount of apologies would ever change that fact.] I remember... I do. I- don't have an excuse at all.

I can't change what happened, but I can apologize for it. If I could make it up to you somehow, I would. You're both so important to me. The years we shared at Teiko...I'll never forget them.

[aomeanie]

Good, and you better not forget either. [he looks at kise for a little before he turns his attention to the court.] Satsuki told me that you two made up. What did you say to her?

[reproducer]

I apologized for hurting her. I told her I didn't deserve her kindness and that I had no excuse, that I'm stupid, that I'll work harder to build our trust. [He tries to think back to their conversation. Really, he just kind of remember crying a lot.]

[aomeanie]

[he huffs as he quietly mulls all of this over.] As long as you keep your word and try to make things right for her then... I guess I'll accept your apology.

I don't care what you call me, Kise. Yes I'm upset that you broke your promise to me. So it'll probably take me a little while before I feel like I can trust you again. But, you really messed up when you made Satsuki cry. [a brief pause.] If you can prove to me that you're going to make things fully right with her tho, I'm willing to move past this.

[reproducer]

Aominecchi-- really?

[He sniffles- then wipes his arm across his eyes to stop the tears from falling. He'd thought he had no chance with Aomine at all, that they'd never be friends again. But there's a glimmer of hope, now, a light that he didn't think existed.]

I didn't think- of course, Aominecchi, I'll do everything I can to make it up to her.

[aomeanie]

[he clicks his tongue and rolls his eyes.] I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it, damn.

[he's still on the fence, but he has... kind of missed his annoying presence. and he's one hell of a good ball player. huehue but more importantly, if he can make things right and better with satsuki then he will be okay with the other.] Good. You can start right now.

[reproducer]

I know. That's why I thought I'd never get a second chance.

[He sniffles some more, takes a deep breath to compose himself.]

Aidacchi's been helping me with my physical therapy. I've been off it all this time, so- I'm taking your concern seriously. I'm off it until Aidacchi tells me otherwise.

[aomeanie]

[he's.... a little bitter about that and it shows. oops] Glad to know that you listen to others who don't know you as well as we do.

[reproducer]

[He absolutely deserved that.]

I'm stupid, Aominecchi. It's not an excuse, but- I guess I still have a lot to learn about trust and teammates, too.

[aomeanie]

That's an understatement of the century. And you go lecturing me over trusting your teammates.

[okay--he's done now.]

[reproducer]

I- had no right to do that, either. I'm sorry...

[He scratches his head.]

I'd- love to play against you again when I'm fully healed, Aominecchi. If you'd like to...

[aomeanie]

Only when you're fully healed. I'm not the type to go easy on a person and I'm not going to make allowances for you.

[reproducer]

[And then Kise smiles his first, real smile this whole conversation. They can play together again- he just has to get better. And once he is, he fully intends to make up for all his lost time. And maybe one day, he'll actually be able to beat Aomine.]

I wouldn't expect any less.

[He's just. Beaming.]

[aomeanie]

[he shoves the other. as lightly as he can, because he's not a complete asshole.]

Just focus on getting better, alright? I've been bored out of my mind. I don't want to wait more than I have to.

[reproducer]

The day I kick your ass is coming, Aominecchi. I hope you're prepared for it.

[aomeanie]

I'd like to see you try. Though I have been itching to play against that perfect copy of yours.

[reproducer]

I can only really hold it for five minutes... but maybe in those five minutes, it'll be enough to bring you down.

[aomeanie]

Heh, as if! I'm gonna wipe the floor with you, Kise.

[reproducer]

[God he's so FIRED UP and wants to play RIGHT NOW... but he can't. And he won't even try. He can talk smack all day, though. It's- nice. To see Aomine fired up, too.]

Is that a promise?

[aomeanie]

Hell yeah it is.

[reproducer]

I'll make the wait worth it, Aominecchi. I'll promise you that in return.

[aomeanie]

Good, I look forward to it.

[reproducer]

[Kise gives him a big, challenging grin- then it drops to something a bit more grateful.]
